Westchester County recorded 10,121 home sales in 2016, an increase of 7.7% from 2015. The median sale price for a single family house fell slightly to $624,000 from $628,875. The Hudson Valley saw its strongest housing market since the recession. Declining inventory and an unpredictable federal branch seem to be the market’s biggest concerns.
The numbers were reported by the Hudson Gateway Multiple Listing Service, Inc., a subsidiary of the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors. Orange County had a 24.3% volume increase over last year. Single family home median prices in Orange increased 3.5% to $235,000. Putnam’s $325,000 median sale price for single family homes was 4.8% above last year. Rockland’s median house price was $425,000, 2.4% higher than last year.
